Dale Blasingame is an associate professor of practice in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Texas State University – where he teaches classes involving social media, photography and videography – and an Austin-based event photographer, drone videographer and technical writer. Before becoming a professor, he worked in TV news for nearly a decade, earning two Lone Star Emmy awards. Blasingame is also an FAA certified commercial drone pilot and was one of the first professors in the country to teach drone videography courses at a university. He’s also helped train NASA’s education specialists to use drones with children at space centers around the nation.
In addition, Blasingame has two decades of experience as a travel writer and technical writer. He’s written hundreds of articles, blogs and website pages for clients across the country and publications like Texas Highways, Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine and the San Antonio Express-News.
